Structure and Content

  • The AMCEP Program is structured to guide you through every step of becoming a registered doctor in Australia:

    1. Initial Assessment & Preparation

    • Verify Eligibility: Ensure that the medical degree is recognized by the Australian Medical Council (AMC).
    • ECFMG Verification: Complete the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) verification to authenticate your medical credentials.
    • Set Up AMC Account: Register with the AMC and submit your documents for verification.

    2. Choosing the Appropriate Pathway

    • Standard Pathway: For IMGs who need to pass the AMC exams to obtain general registration.
    • Competent Authority Pathway: For IMGs who have passed equivalent exams in recognized countries.
    • Specialist Pathway: For those who have completed specialist training overseas and seek recognition as a specialist in Australia.

    3. Exam Preparation and Completion

    • MCQ Exam (Standard Pathway): Prepare for and pass the AMC CAT MCQ Exam, which assesses your medical knowledge.
    • Clinical Exam (Standard Pathway): Prepare for and pass the AMC Clinical Exam, an OSCE-style exam evaluating your clinical skills.
    • English Language Proficiency: Pass an English language proficiency test (IELTS, PTE, OET) if required, ensuring you meet the language requirements for registration.

    4. Job Readiness

    • CV & Cover Letter Preparation: Craft a professional CV and cover letter tailored to the Australian medical job market.
    • Job Search & Applications: Search for medical positions in Australia and submit applications for suitable roles.
    • Interview Preparation: Prepare for job interviews with coaching and practice sessions.

    5. Securing a Position: Obtain a position that allows you to complete the required period of supervised practice.

    6. AHPRA Registration: Submit your application for initial registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) once all other requirements are met.

    7. Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Engage in Continuing Professional Development to maintain and enhance your medical skills and knowledge.

    8. Transition to Australia

    • Visa Application: Apply for a suitable visa to work and live in Australia.
    • Relocation Logistics: Organize travel, relocation, and other logistical aspects of moving to Australia.
    • Accommodation: Secure temporary or permanent accommodation in your new location.

Program Objective

The objective of the AMCEP program is to provide a comprehensive, structured pathway for international medical graduates (IMGs) to achieve medical registration in Australia. The program aims to support IMGs through every stage of the process—from setting up essential accounts and preparing for AMC exams to assisting with job readiness, language proficiency, and AHPRA registration—ensuring a smooth transition into the Australian healthcare system. The ultimate goal is to equip IMGs with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to become fully registered and successful medical practitioners in Australia.

Program Framework

Duration: 9 months onwards depending on the timing of exam preparation and exam outcomes. Each step in the process, from setting up accounts to securing a job and obtaining general registration, can vary in duration based on individual circumstances and success in passing the required exams.

Intakes

he AMCEP Program offers two intakes each year, allowing you to start your preparation at a time that best suits your schedule. The intakes are in October and May.

Early registration is recommended, as spots are limited and fill up quickly.

AMCEP PROGRAM TIMELINE

  • Phase One

    PRE-REGISTRATION

    Introductory to Australia, medical lifestyle, course briefing, curriculum overview, Q&A sessions Physical & online session, will be held at MUCM facility

  • Phase Two

    REGISTRATION

    Detailed step-by-step checklist. curriculum briefing, class scheduling textbook/material delivery Online platform registration, credentials, timetable distribution, student ID generation, document collection and portfolio verification

  • Phase 3

    AMC PART 1
    COACHING & EXAMINATION

    Duration: 12-15 weeks
    Classes: twice a week for 4-5 hours each
    Mode: online teaching
    Structure: two terms per batch. including mid-term assessment, end-of-term mock examinations, and revision classes.
    Examination: AMC Part 1 CAT-MCQs, conducted online at center (nearest is at Singapore)

  • Phase 4

    AMC PART 2
    COACHING & EXAMINATION

    Duration: 1-2 weeks
    Classes: 10 days for 6-8 hours each
    Mode: online teaching
    Structure: Mastering sample questions on clinical examination, frequently asked in AMC part 2.
    Examination: AMC Part 2 clinicall examination conducted online

    JOB APPLICATION & INTERVIEW

    Compilation of vacancy lists at various healthcare facilities in Australia CV preparation, referral letters, otner necessary documents

    TRAVELLING TO AUSTRALIA
